Undergraduate research (UR) and creative activity (CA) form essential academic experiences and offer inclusive and diverse frameworks for every student, faculty, discipline, department, and major at Westfield State University. UR and CA are also high-impact teaching and learning strategies providing a wide range of benefits to students, faculty, and the institution as a whole.
Our mission is to promote participation and collaboration in meaningful undergraduate research and/or creative activity across all disciplines in lower and upper divisions by fostering intellectual scholarship through programs to support and integrate undergraduate research (UR) and creative activity (CA) into the Westfield State Experience (WSE).
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (CURCA) grounds and increases our UR and CA capacity through coordination and funding with the goal to make Westfield State University a ‘hub of excellence’ for UR and CA in New England – a reason for students from across the region to a) chose Westfield State University, b) to succeed at Westfield State University, c) to graduate from Westfield State University, and d) to remain connected to Westfield State University after graduation.
